The land which is classified as class 3(2)by the James Hutton Institute for soil research is generally undulating in nature and rises from 95 m to 115m above sea level. The land has lain fallow for a number of years and does not benefit from an agricultural holding number. In consequence the fencing and stone walling should not be considered stock proof.
The land is bound to the east by the B979 Stonehaven/ Maryculter road an unclassified road to leading to Altries to the north, Altries Wood to the west and agricultural land to the south.
